I'm trying to figure out what's wrong here. See the attached pics (if I can get them to work). He has some waxy covering on his skin. I've tried the Repti shedding aid but I don't think it's a shed since it's been going on for well over a month. He's also got significant snout damage but he hasn't been rubbing his head on the glass in months. I've been putting Neosporin on the snout every day. He's also not big on eating anything other than waxworms. I've started feeding him Fluker's Reptiaid and he does accept it (can't feed him more than 3/4 of a cc at a time though). He's about 14 inches snout to tail.

You need to talk to a vet or get him to a vet. It looks like he may have some mouth rot and fungus problems.

Yes it looks like either an ultra low humidity issue in his cage or a fungus problem. Get him to a vet ASAP as he doens't look real great in the picture. I would hate for you to wait too much longer and have him pass a critical point where he can be treated. Please, keep us posted.

Been looking for a resource to find herp vets in this area. I know there is one about 20 miles south of here, but getting there is almost impossible after work (d**n Chicago traffic). Any resources to find vets? **edit** How come this didn't show up the first time I searched? www.herpvetconnection.com/ Not the most updated but it should work. His cage is about 40 % humidity according to the gauge. I can't figure out how to increase it. I'll borrow a friend's humidifier to try and increase it. He's definately got mouthrot though

Arg, if you notice on his right rear foot, there's something missing Looks like whatever is happening robbed him of one of his toes Looks like at least one or two more on the hind legs are about to go as well. The front ones look okay. I called the vet today and will try to get him in on Friday.

Yeah I see that. I'm glad you got an appointment. When you get back from the vet, let us know what the vet had to say.

The doctor visit wasn't too good. Doc couldn't identify it but it is some type of infection that got into his bloodstream. He had an injury on his back since the day I took him home. That is the most likely source. The front leg injury on his right leg is disturbing since it swelled up his elbow/knee. Odds are that leg will be lost. I've got him on baytril antibiotic, taken twice a day. He also soaks for 20 minutes a day in warm water (cleans it up and helps keep him hydrated). Doc said to keep him eating anything he wants; waxworms and their fat won't do him any harm. After soaking him I put antibiotic ointment on his knee, back, and snout.

Hope he gets some strength back soon. Don't worry to much about the leg and its potential loss. A member on the water dragon mailing list has a 3 legged dragon that does just fine. Just concentrate on getting pennywise back up to healhty. Thanks for the update.

He seems to be getting better. He's back to his "I hate you" attitude, moving more and most importantly, eating semi normally again. His skin is clearing up, has a bit of a gang banger limp though thanks to his bum (but still there) leg.

Well, he's pretty much back to normal. He's eating 6 or so big crickets a day and however many wax worms I feel like throwing in there. His infection has cleared up but I think it did some permanent damage to his elbow; he uses it okay but when he walks he still has a limp. But he's fattening up nicely now.

This is great news Grover, I was very sad to see pennywise in the above condition, I'm glad to has made a recovery. The limp is less concerning as I know of a few people that have 3 legged dragons that do fine. You may have to take special precautions in designing any viv changes though as a limpy leg may translate to less gripping power and we all know that these guys do crazy acrobatic manuevers when they can I am anxious to see a 'after' pic of the recovery, so hopefully you can post one in the not to distant future. Thank you for the update.

I'll get an updated picture when I can remember my Photobucket username and password Got him on superworms now too. Good thing about those is he can only eat about 4 of them so a package lasts a week. Still got the waxworms for treats.

Okay, **bump** It's been about two months now. He's eating about 7 or so crickets and a waxworm or two per feeding (5-6 times a week, sometimes he's not hungry). Hasn't really "grown" too much, just a fatter. He won't eat superworms unless he's hungry as all get go, so if I've got some I wait a day or two and he gobbles a few up. Loves crickets and waxworms though.. Let's see if I can do this photobucket thing..
