Ok, so I was wondering if there is a market for adult dragons. Cause I might raise some and sell them as adults if I could bare parting with them after having them for a year or two. Would cost a lot of money to raise them though. Think people would pay a substantial amount of money for some adult captive bred dragons?

I understand why there isn't any adults being sold, however If someone was selling a 1-2 year old Adult Female right now I would pay at least 100 dollars for it. Shipping adults must also be a problem, I'm not sure. Maybe if you're selling adults in a year I might buy a 2nd female.

In some cases like mine, yea there is a market simply because I want a girl or 2 for Awol and if I had any clue about how easy it would have been to raise a couple more when I first started out I would have been smart enough to get more, but then again with my luck I would have had all males

Sapphire Dragon ranch sells sexable captive born and bred for over $100.00 when they have them, so their is definitely someone out there buying them. Personally, I would prefer a cpative born and bred specimen and would pay extra to get one. Considering the number of hatchlings that die within the first few months after purchase, people should be willing to purchase a healthy juvie (even unsexed) for a few bucks more and know that they are getting a healthy, well-fed and cared for dragon.

Both online and locally there is a market for certified captive bred adults that I have seen. I know locals who need mature males for there females and some who need mature females for there males. Same story online. I think the market exists the problem would be polling to find out what can be fairly asked price wise and how that compares to what it costs to raise them into adult hood. Also you have the emotional ties, I don't know about you but even if I had 20 dragons I would be wrapped around each ones little finger like I am with Pooka but maybe I'm just to soft of a guy ;D Great question by the way red.

These are all reasons why people don't sell adult water dragons, but from what I see they're in high demand. The only adults I usually see are imports or rescues and even that is rare. Sapphire dragon ranch does sell sexable dragons at 14" I believe yet that is still pretty small to place in witha male. People looking for male water dragons I think have it easier because the female you already haven't most likely won't be aggresive towards a younger dragon. Also those ones are "special" in that they have bred certain qualities into them such as a bluish color or brighter stripes. If I were a breeder I would sell hatchlings for 25 dollars and adults for a 4 or 5 times more.
One major problem you would encounter is ending up with multiple males, you would either need many enclosures or just keep one adult male.

I would say there would be a lot of folk looking for adults as I know I was in that position last year and they are very hard to find the shop I deal with can get them but they are farm bred and left to run around a shed and don't have much human contact so are not tame they have one at the moment it is a male and he is a bit thin but not very friendly but he is lovely

Yes i need and would buy a male dragon and eventually maybe another dragon, one reason i think adults would work is the sexing thing, the other is some of us just don't have the room to grow a second dragon to the size of the full grown one. Just no room for 2 tanks. So far just so you know I have not found any captive breed adults, I have found wild caught adults but who wants a wild caught adult to harass my captive breed female. Even on imports though best price i can get is like 45 bucks plus liek 45 shipping. I would pay 150 to have a good captive breed male 2 year old shipped to me. Maybe more if it was in great shape.

Only way you would ever make the money selling adults would be to grow your own food though. Other wise more people would do it. Imagine raising 10 dragons or so to adults would need more then a couple large cages, and a lots of food. If you do decide to though I would buy one if they looked healthy

I am doing it! I have seen at least 5 people say they want an older dragon. Haha, too bad everyone says they want a female. So hopefully Oscar's eggs will hatch and the lil guys will be healthy. I have to start saving up money now though. My electric bill is going to go up super high once I have a 3rd viv going. I hope this will be worth it. It probably won't be with all the money I will have to spend on food and electicity. Awww man and I will get attached to the little guys. Ok now I don't know. Sorry. Yall can just ignore me.
