Hello all,
After some deliberation I have decided that I want to get Pooka a tank mate. I know with this comes a whole new level of responsibilty and worries. If pooka is a male and I pick another male we will have territory issues. If pooka is a female and I get another female I may or may not have to add a male in the future if we want hatchlings. And sometimes dragons simply clash and I may end up with 2 totally different tanks setup like Char and Abby. This being said I wanna do this right and minimize the risk to Pooka so here is my plan.
I have setup a quarantine tank for the new arrival. All vital systems have already been setup such as UVB and Incandescent heat. Temps have been checked and thermometers and hygrometers are in the place. The only piece I lack for the current setup is a extension cord and timer for the lights (so I don't have to manually turn them on and off)
I plan on keeping the new arrival in this tank for a few days then taking it to the vet after I am sure its on feed. If the vet visit gives us a clean bill of health I will finish out 30days and introduce the new arrival to pooka and see how tings go from there. If the vet visist shows parasites (which I bet it will) we will treat and return untill we get a clean bill of health then finish out 30 days before introductions.
I know this varies from some of the hard and fast rules published on other websites but this is what I have setup and I think it'll be suffiicent to minimize risk to pooka. Commenst suggestions and conversation is aprreciated thanks.
