Ok I have another question...This may seem like a stupid question, but in my introduction thread Ace said my water dish seemed too small and shallow....he does have other water sources now, but now it has be questioning how deep his water should be. Can anyone tell me the min. depth his water should be? Heres his pic again to show his size! btw - he is missing about a 2" piece of his tail (was like that when we got him )

Your dragon just needs enough water so that he can submerse about 2/3 of his body. They soak to help themselves shed and most of them will defecate in the water bowl also. Your little dragon will grow quite quickly, so if you have room, it's best to go with the largest of the "lizard lagoons" and put a rock in it until your dragon grows enough that he doesn't need it anymore to get out of the lagoon. Dragons CAN drown; they're really pretty clumsy so you want to give them a way in and out of the water dish. Burying it in the substrate and putting some moss around it works well and you can mist the moss to help keep your humidity up and it helps keep junk out of the water. Be sure to change your water at least daily-twice daily is best. BTW, cute little dragon!

Thanks Dragosmom! Right now he is in a 55 gallon tank so I have some room but not to much...he has a waterfall right now, but he can't submerse imself in it, he does soak in his regular water dish and defecate in it too, but I don't think its quite deep enough. Wheres the best place you've found for "lizard lagoons" ?

you can go to wal-mart and buy a small plastic tub and fill it with some water but since hes small i would put a stick or something that makes sure he can get out
i used it for chaos when she was young but now im using a cat littler pan

A lot of pet stores have them. I got it at my local "Pet Food Store" chain, but it's a locally owned chain. I just liked it because it was ceramic and good and solid. If you don't use a ceramic type they tend to knock them over all the time. You could probably use a ceramic cat or dog food bowl, but the "lagoons" are shaped oval to accomodate part of the dragons' tail!

Basically, you can use anything that is easy to remove for cleaning, easily disinfected, and lends itself to the dragon getting in and out of easily. Water Depth should be front shoulder height for the dragon. Some owners go deeper to allow swimming areas but I don't wanna let my dragons swim in deep water unsupervised.

Thanks for all the replys! I will be making a trip to PetSmart or Petco in a couple of days I'll have to look for something slightly deeper!

I use a cat litter tray don't know if that is what you call them over there and I have a large rock which helps them get out if they need it my two wds don't as they are adults but I have a basilisk in with them and she is only a baby so it helps her I also have an air stone in mine and they love the bubbles
