I'm considering getting another lizard of some sort and was looking for ideas. I have a 4 ft tank for a home so am looking for something that would be comfortable in that sized area. Have considered an chuckwalla I had one before and was easy enough to take care of. Tho I'm really not sure the tank would be big enough. At my pet store they have a great lizard they say are dog friendly and do seem to be, only problem is they grow to be 6ft. And I don't remember what kind they are. Any suggestions?

Have you ever thought about bearded dragons? Bearded dragons are great pets; they are almost always very docile. They can get up to 24 inches but often are only around 18 inches. This is a picture of one of my females Here are some juvies to show you some of the color variation There are also normal bearded dragons that you can get for pretty cheap. They are gray, black, tan and some colors in between. The colors that I have run from 100-400 Let me know if you have any questions and if you want some with color I know some great breeders.

Your dragons are beautiful and would love to have one like them, unfortunately the tank I have is surely to small for one.

That should work for one adult bearded dragon. There are also Rankin's dragons (Pogona henrylawsoni) that only reach about 10-12 inches. Rankin’s dragons are in the pogona family that includes Pogona barbata, Pogona mitchelli, and Pogona vitticeps (the lizards in the previous post). You could have 2 or maybe 3 Rankin’s in your tank.

guess I just worry about them having enough room My girls Cronus and Perseus are in a 6x4x4 ft cage. So something that stays small and surely without all the requirments of a waterdragon

Yes they are great, they are my favorite. When I go to reptile shows to look for a new type of lizard I always end up bringing a new bearded dragon home.

I was going to get a gecko, but the person at the pet store said that they arent as friendly as bearded dragon. I ended up getting a bearded dragon and he is friendly. I can pick him up and hold him as long as I want, but when I tried to pick up my friends gecko he just hid under his hollow rock.

Really, if you want a pet you can hold and play with you should get a bearded dragon. If you want a pet, but you can't always be with it, or you chose not to you be with it you should get a gecko.

I would buy a bearded dragon because like bd14 said they can sit on your shoulder or anywhere else as long as you want, but you have to watch what kind you get because I saw a german giant at a pet store and it was about 2 feet long and weight 1 1/2 pounds. But it's up to you what you buy.

I know some cool dragons that don't grow to big. Central Netted Dragons. I'm not sure if they are readily available in america, but there is always 1 or 2 in the internet classifieds in australia. They look good and basically need the same husbandary requirements of a bearded dragon. You could comfortably keep 2 or 3 in an enclosure with those dimensions ... go to google and check them out. i'm hoping to get 2 or 3 in the next couple of months or so ;D
