i have question my male beardie is about 35cm at almost 2yrs old my female is about 38cm at the same age they have had the same diet for their whole life in the last 5-6 months or so i have noticed that the female has been eating a lot more than the male (veggies) about 4 times more, why could this be?? also what could account for thier small size?? they used to eat crix 2 times a day and about 5-6 each feeding, also a small serving of veggies each day. all food was regulary dusted?

Female bearded dragons tend to eat a little more than males. Your female might be gravid (pregnant) if she has been with your male. Your dragons are pretty small you should Start giving them more crix and lettuce.

My friend has a bearded dragon and he wants to breed them. Can I have some tips on breeding bearded dragons? First you need to make sure they are big enough to breed. How old are his dragons? Then You should lower the temperature for them down to 70-75 degrees so his dragons will brumate(semi hibernate). Then in 2-3 months you can take them out of brumation by slowly raising the temperature back up to about 110. The male will bob his head and will have a pure black beard. The female might wave her arm. Then after they had a successful breeding She will lay her eggs about 4-8 weeks later. Incubate the eggs The babies will hatch about 2 months later.

Derek..... I too raise beardies and you told Spike...
From my research & talking with other beardie "parents" lettuce is not a good food source. They need leafy greens, such as, mustard greens, turnip greens, dandelion green and plenty of squash, zuccini, sweet potatoe & such....
Please don't think i'm criticizing, just trying to help.....

i think i might not have been suplementing thier food or something enough. i feed them carrots, broccoli and bok choy.. and a lot of the bearded dragon pellets but they dont seem to enjoy that very much!! is this a good diet. i give them this every 2-3 days and crix every 2-3 days also, about 5-6 each time i do, large ones too... anything you could comment on i.e. diet, would be appreciated

Feed the leafy greens daily.... Take out anything over a couple of hours old to avoid eating the spoiled food. Broccoli isn't that great for them. Try zuccini, squash, sweet potatoes......

You should feed your dragons at least once a day. Try to give them crix every day.

ok... i went to this really great pet shop yesterday and they said that to get them bigger i should start feeding them more. they suggested that bright couloured foods are the best to get them eating i.e pumpkin and carrot and also the usual greens that they should have. she said to mix it up as much as possible. But she also suggested that i add a desert spoon of dog food. i have read in other care sheets that this is ok but people on other forums have said that they wouldnt?? should i or shouldnt i??

I've heard of some people suplementing with dog or cat food...... I personally do not, but I do suplement with beardie pellets. You can try the dog/cat food thing if you want. I have not heard of any ill effects of doing so, but also have not heard of any real benefits......

I have the bearded dragon juvenille food, but they dont seem to particulary like that. Dog food is supposed to have lots of protein or something. i dunno, but all their bearded dragons looked extremely healthy. so i'll give it a go
