I'm Steph, and I am a new dragon owner! 'he' is just the cutest thing in the world The pics look dark, because I'm not used to taking pics in that much light. I was worried when looking through forums, as most people seem to keep theirs in pairs, will 'he' be okay on 'his' own? I have had no issues with him eating, he isn't shy in the least when I am bringing food into his cage, at other times he likes to randomly jump, I'm not sure if he is trying to get away from me, or he is kinda showing off how well he can fly. He has been sitting out in the open 98% of the time I have seen him... so far. ;D I'm not new to reptiles though, I also have 6 snakes and 8 geckos.

Welcome to GD, glad to have you aboard. Have a look around, there is a lot of good info here for the taking and if you cannot find it or just wanna chat it up feel free to post. Your dragon looks great, they are so cute as babies. I would not worry about finding a companion animal for him, dragons are solitary creatures for the most part and do just fine with no dragon on dragon social interaction. If you wish to breed them then a pair or even better a trio is the way to go. The major issue with this is that you cannot accurately get the sex determined on a dragon until they mature quite a bit. Again, welcome to GD.

That is good to hear, he seemed to like having full run of the cage anyway. I have read through many of the posts on the CWD board already, lots of good info!
I am a little confused over the signs of being stressed, I know he probably is right now, as he has only been here a few days. But is going browner a sign he is stressed, or as I think I read somewhere else is it only on certain areas of his body that would show that?

Oh you'll know if he is bronw over stress. In the above pictures he has that lovly green tint to his chin, chest and at the edges of his belly. Imagine those almost black and his strips alsmot black while the rest of him stays brown, thats what they look liek frightened and stressed. Of course just like with humans there are different degrees of stress and less stress can still darker overall color and not be the black dragon. If he stays the color he is now, he is doing well.

Okay, thanks. I think I underestimated how much I would have to clean out his water bowl. I don't know how he manages it, it wouldn't shock me if I end up cleaning the water bowl out 3 times today. Mostly because he keeps getting substrate in it. I guess the good thing about it is he will have to get used to my presence, having to change his water this much. I am worried about his stress levels, I try to leave him alone as much as possible, but I worry that is still too much.
