I just found this forum and I wish I had found it earlier when I had many ?'s about Water Dragons. I seem to have everything down now though. I have 2 Water Dragons, Rowan and Kif, that I got a little over a month ago. I'm super attached to them and I talk about them all the time. I'm sure everyone around me gets tired of it fast. They're so adorable. Rowan: He's the spastic one that runs around like maniac all day. He spends a lot of time digging which resulted in an eye full of dirt and a trip to the vet. I have removed the soil substrate and I'm using carpeting since he likes to dig non-stop. He likes to sit on my shoulder but we haven't done this in a week becaue of an incident. Kif: He's very mellow and doesn't like to be picked up.

Wow, you picture are beautiful, and the dragons too! Welcome to the forums! It's weird Rowan digs that much, my vet told me it this behavior was more observed when they get older.. I hope this one will calm himself down a bit, hehe. Or.. maybe he's doing things backwards too!

Welcome to GD, your green 'kids' are gorgeous! My Pooka did alot of digging as a baby as well, they sometimes just dig to dig. You may wanna consider a carpet substrate if it gets too out of hand. I provide carpet for my dragons and once they reach adult age provided dig boxes as well.

I switched to carpet after he got all that dirt in his eye. The Vet told me to do it as soon as I got home but I had already decided to. I'm not sure why he's so fascinated with digging. He will lean straight against the tank and frantically dig at the sides. He was acting that way when I picked him out from the store. ;D I asked the clerk to give me the one that was acting like a spaz. So I knew he was goofy when I picked him out.

they are cuties, i recently put an astro like turf in the tank. not because they like to dig much, but they get very dirty and dirty up the watter bowl way to fast, so i put little pebbles then a dirt layer than the astroturf like layer on top to keep em clean. that also help keep the humidity up high, (around 80% day 99% night) .
