I think we should have a area where members can talk and discuss there health needs and the health of there dragons. If a dragon is sick or hurt they can come to other members for help. I know no one here is a vet and even if they were they couldnt tell someone exactly what is wrong over the net, but the discussion might come usefull to others. Like what caused the dragon to get hurt or sick? What helped it? was is serious? Did is need meds? ect... Then maybe other members can make sure the same things doesnt happen to there dragons. Its just a thought.

hmmm.. this could be served by the individual species forums the way we have them set right now. Does anyone else feel that we should have an individual health forum at this time? If there is a need I am certainly not opposed to it, I just think the need is served currently.

I think you should only let the mods post facts if you were to have a place were you you could talk about sick dragons or other. Because someone might give bad info that will actually hurt the dragons or other.

well of course no one can really tell for a fact what is EXACTLY wrong with the animals even if they were a vet or expert without seeing the animal, but my whole point was that so people could share there past experiences about there animal being sick or hurt or whatever and what the turn out was and how you found out and how you fixed it. Of course no one should take the info posted as a fix to a problem they have even if they have the same problem. If you think your reptile is sick or badly hurt TAKE IT TO A VET! i just know i like reading about how reptile get better and leaning about new injuries and illnesses i might not know about that other people know about. But thats just my opinion.

I agree with the concept, but I also feel the needs are addressed within each species. Would it be too much trouble to put a separate category of "health needs" within each species group? that way moderators could possibly keep suggested remedies in a list and bump the list as required. I know that I have not had many health related issues with my CWD and self medicate and treat when required. The only knowledge I have aquired has been from reading about treatments from other sources.

It would be possile to create a thread called health needs in the specific species area. My concern also lies with new members or guests thinking that a suggested treatment is a cure-all or substitute for a qualififed herp vet.

You could have members that post on health care put a warning up such as suggested treatment is NOT a cure-all or substitute for a qualififed herp vet, just this members personal experiance. CristaValentine Cronus & Perseus www.geocities.com/valntyn13/

That's a good idea. I am sure there a lot of dragon owners out there who live in rural locations and smaller towns without access to a qualified herp vet. And... there are those of us who wouldn't dream of seeking medical care for OURSELVES without trying home remedies FIRSY and feel the same way about our pets. These are "fighting" words for some, but many times if yu know what a vet would do and you can do it early enough you can avoid the long trip, waiting and ,of course, the expense. I kind of treat my dragons like I did my kids when they were younger. Except our dragons can't tell us where it hurts~

i think it is a great idea We can disscuss important health aspects of any animal in the forum and also we can disscuss different products on the market and what to use them for (when to use them). What works best for what. is this a sign of developing disease etc.
