Hey just a forward about Zoo Meds Repti Shedding Aid. It works !!! Awol has had a good number of stuborn spike sheds that have refused to release. I sprayed him down with this stuff and rubbed it into him real good a few days ago. Today I removed 10-15 of the old spike sheds just by rubbing/pulling gently on them. I never even noticed his face start to darken but he has cleaned it off of old skin already too and has his brightness just shining. Oh yea just before massaging him to lift that stuff I had also showered him with his pop bottle and let him sit for a couple minutes to absorb the water.

Cool!! I wondered how well it worked. I got some of it and have applied it to Baloo because of his stubborn and I mean STUBBORN shedding problems and I havent seen any improvements yet, Poor lil fella just has one thing after another going on with him. Thanks for the tip, we always like to hear good things about the products out there!!

That's good news, I'll have to try it with my basilisk because his feet and tail have yet to get the shedding skin off of them and he's been shedding for almost two weeks now. (I'm too worried to try and help because last time I did it pulled some scales out of place on his chest. >_>)

All I know is I was rubbing Awols back and the shed spikes kept coming out so I kept rubbing hehehe and he sure did not seem to mind the massage. Afterwards he downed about 15 giant mealworms and 10 of the white puppa for a snack sometimes I think there is no bottom in him

Thanks for the input on the shed ease! it's good to know it works, just in case! So far, (knock on wood), the sheds have been fairly easy. Avanyu just seems to be forever shedding SOMEWHERE!
Got silkies in for the first time and all 3 dragons ate some.

Yea Awol never seems to stop shedding either.
How big were the silkies you got? The store here only had them at about 1 1/2 inch long.

The silkies are over 2 inches and about as fat as a pencil. It seems all they do is eat (and be eaten) LOL. I am DEFINITELY going to be feeding them OFTEN. Much easier to keep than any of the other foods. Even the butter worms have to be kept in my fridge!

yea I was told that a silk worm is the food is constant may never move more than 6 inches in its whole life.
I will be trying eggs soon to see if I can get a culture on the go.

I had to take Michelangelo for a vet visit after a month or so of having him. He had all these bumps on his skin. I had no idea what they were, and they weren't going away. His appetite sucked, he wasn't breathing quite right, he wasn't growing like a weed like his bros/sises were. I automatically thought parasites - I like to think the worst, bad habbit. Anyways, the vet informed me that I am an idiot that he was just having problem shedding. He gave me this blue solution stuff called Nolvason Solution. Anyways, he said to put some water in a container, and put some of the nolvason solution in the water... just enough to tint the water blue, less than a teaspoon of the stuff. And then to put Michelangelo in it and let him soak for 30 minutes. And to repeat that every day for a while. Well, I did. And then in less than a week Baby Mike shed and has had the most beautifulest skin ever since. And the reason he wasn't breathing right was because his nostrils weren't shedding right either. His appetite perked up. He still hasn't grown much though. I used it on another dragon that was having problems and it worked like a charm on him too. I am convinced this stuff is magic.

I did a search on google to find some. I found some gallon jugs ranging from 35-50$. Pretty expensive stuff. I only clicked on like 4 sites though. I am sure you can find a smaller bottle of it.

Novalsan is also a disinfectant which can be used to clean and disinfect your vivs and equipment. I didn't try, but it may be available at 1-800-Petmeds.

Which is why it's also very important when you soak your dragon in it to dilute it a whole bunch. That's why I said you only put enough of it in the water to tint the water blue. The stuff is orignally a pretty dark blue color. Safe for them to drink. So you don't have to worry about that. Excellent for making it your disinfectant.
