I have two adult WDs who roam free in my tiny beach house. I want to get a dog (sometimes you just need someone to snuggle with!) but i am afraid that it would just want to eat the lizards. I know they could never be together unsupervised...but does anyone have any experience with this?

I have two pretty good sized dogs; a red doberman and a weimeraner. My doberman, who is afraid of EVERYTHING, gets really interested when I bring my dragons around. I only worry she will step on them. She doesn't seem to want to eat them, but they move and she thinks its a game. So she tries to pounce... not on the dragons, but just around (that's how we play). It makes me way too nervous. My weimeraner is a huntin dog and will chase anything that moves, but for some reason my dragons scare her to death. While I enjoy watching the dogs' reactions to the dragons and the dragons' reactions to the dogs, I don't like for them to interact too often. Too much at risk. Dragons are allowed to free roam in a room they are locked up in without the dogs. The dogs don't ever go near the dragon cage to check them out, they could care less. If I were you, I wouldn't let the dragons free roam while the dog was around. But definately get a dog! I am away at college with just my dragons, the dogs are back home in Houston with my parents... which also means they aren't around the dragons too often... Anyways, I miss my dogs to death. My neighbor has a dog and I always have to go over and play with her dog. Dogs are the bestest buddies. Reptiles are neat to watch, but you can't get the same kind of interaction as you can get from a dog.

I have a very friendly pure-breed german shepard (Tearum), he is around 20 months old and 85-90 lbs. The dog is a sweetheart but is very interested in my 2 little guys.
Tearum will watch the CWD's intently for half an hour at a time, sitting at full attention, then if they run near the edge of the tank he will put his mouth on the tank try and slurp them up like like little lizard-mcnuggets . . .
There is no way I can have him in the room when the lizards are out period. He doesnt bark at them or show any other form of aggression towards them, but I am certain that given half a chance he would have them in his mouth.
Maybe, you could have better luck, but I have to remove the dog before I even open the tank for maintainance.

Awol is not at all afraid of my Rotti/ST Bernard cross and for the most part Dozer just ignores him anyway.

My friends friend (yes one of those stories) had a dog and a wd. I don't know how but the dog got the wd and killed it. I've seen pics and he was an absolute gorgeous male wd. If you do get a dog (and they are great...I miss mine...went to doggie heaven ) then please be sure that you don't have them out together.

As long as I am holding Awol, then dozer will just smell him , touch noses and generally be a nusance ( dad is only supposed to payt attention to me atitude ) but if I let Awol free roam Dozer just ignores him.
Dozer even ignores other dogs of the toy sized status hehehe

I have a Yorkie and she could care less about my WD's. I am completely confident that if I let Puff roam free that i would have no problems with my dog bothering her in any way. Now my Cat on the other hand is just waiting patiently for the oppurtunity to have Draggy Nuggets. I would say that it depends on the dog. I would NOT suggest in any way that you get a dog if you WD's are free roamers. If you would have them in a cage, viv, tank or some type of home then I would say go for it. But having a new dog in a new house with new 'snacks' roaming around the house is NOT a good idea in any means. If you could get them a 'home' to be safe in (a viv) then yes get a dog. But until you are ready to lock your WD's up I wouldnt get a dog. Just my opinion.

Well, I think it just depends on how the dog and how the water dragons react to each other. When we had our husky Chloe(may she rest in peace)she didn't mind the dragons and they didn't mind her. Here is a picture of Ladon when he was younger hanging out on the side of Chloe's belly. Now, we have another husky named Clara and the dragons do not like her. She comes around the cage to check them out and they open their mouths and try to ram at her. She just wants to play with them, but she plays to rough so we have to keep them sepertated.
