I have had my dragon Saki for a little over a year. When he was younger he would eat every day but as he has gotten older he usually only eats every 2-3 days. He just finished another growth spurt and is just under 2 feet. But he hasn't eaten now for a little over a week. He is still active, not skinny, and deficated 2 days ago. Temperatures and humidity is still normal. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I am starting to get really worried.

Hi BlueDragon, If Saki is acting normal in all other regards (same active behavior, good color etc) then I would not stress to hard on the skipping meals issue. Both Pooka & Skittle are around the same age, perhaps a bit older and are doing the same things for several months now. Pooka will go through spurts where I think she is gravid and skip entire weeks almost of eating only to hit the food again and go back to normal. Skittle will also skip meals but I have foudn he will never refuse a pinkie, I think he holds out for them.... Does Saki have a favorite food that perhaps he is holding out on you for? Do we know for sure Saki's sex? At 24 inches you should be able to get an educated guess on it, if Saki is a girl things might make a lot more sense. Keep us posted.

My 2 year old male water dragon, Mr. Lizard, does the same thing. I was worried about two months ago when he did not eat for eight days. Then he started eating normal again. Now he has not eaten for three days again. He's pooping every day and acting normal. I offer him everything he usually eats but he won't take anything. I guess they go through stages of not eating

After about 10 min of convincing, Saki finally ate a pinkie

Good for Saki Now I wish Mr. Lizard would eat I'll keep trying. I guess water dragons are fussy eaters.

My Dragon, Alexander, does that too- he' s just a bit more than 2 feet and to my knowledge, just about 1 year old... he appetite was huge before and now he'll go for a day or so w/o eating and then eat a buch and them not be hungry. We;ve been skipping days when he is picky to get his appetite back. He does hold out for wax worms, but he's only allowed those about every 10 days... they are super fatty!

at 2+ feet you can probably start cutting back to every other day feedings. Be warned, its hard, I find myself feeding mine daily still even though they are 2+ feet each, I guess I can't stand the thought of them going hungry... I'll have to face the music eventually and cut back though as overweight dragons, just like overwight humans, have shorter life spans.

My # yr old dragon Bob---whom I've had 3 weeks-- stopped esting n he almost died because I had no idea what was wrong with him. He was severly dehydrated n I believe it was caused by a respitoty infection or mouth rot. I,m not sure which one n need help. He's on antibiotics but I hope thery're the correct ones. Anyone have any comments towards this.
