Hi, I was just interested to know, if you need a licence to keep reptiles in america In australia for a basic licence to keep all the basic lizards such as things from blue-tounges to a lace monitor it costs almost $50 a year. To keep things like freshwater crocs and venomous snakes cost almost $120 a year. So do you have to pay these levies in america?

Not in Michigan and I don't believe an any of the other states but we don't all have the same rules state to state. I think if it is considered an exotic you might need a license but not reptiles in general

Normal reptiles are not required to have any kind of license structure in Canada either.
I don't know what would be involved for getting venomous or really exotics.

In Arizona there are some 'exotic' reptiles that require permits/liscense's. I believe most of the animals that require this are either poisonous or endangered somewhere. For most reptiles this is not needed.
