Hi,
Do these need to be on 24/7 or certain times of day? Thanks.

Heat rocks I'd definately suggest having on at night at least, Schizo seems to enjoy using it as a warm little bed... But to the heat lamps, hell no. (Unless it's ceramic or possibly one of the infrared night bulbs, but personally I'd only use those for nocturnal species that have the hairy toe pads like tokay geckos and knight anoles...) All animals need night and day so not only would having it on 24/7 make it burn out sooner and help drive up your electricity bills, but it would probably really mess with your dragon's head.

sorry about that last post for whoever read it .... i was in 2 minds As for the Heat Bulbs/Rocks I suggest you either do what DibDip said or you can either 1. Use a heat lamp connected to a thermostat and dont worry about about a heat rock 2. Use a heat lamp and get a bulb that will get closest to the right temps and leve it on all the time It isnt that important to make it cooler for night time as it doesnt get that much cooler where they come from And with the disturbing the sleep things, as longas they are just normal red frosted globes it is ok. i use it in my monitor tank and he is fine with it. so where the beardies when i had them in their. But i qould suggest a ceramic heat emitter. they may be expensive but they are worth it

Diurnal lizards definitely need a uniform schedule of daylight and night. Your daytime lights should be on a timer with 12-14 hrs daylight during warm months reduced to 10-12 hrs. gradually during the winter and back up for warm weather. A night time heat source depends upon your household temps at night. Aussie's are more tolerant of cold night temps than other water dragons and should be fine without a night time heat source under most house hold conditions.
