I only know bits a pieces I have learned from books and other sites about how water dragons breed and what requirements need to be met. What I am more interested in is who in here successfully breeds them? I am very interested in acquireing another Dragon or two as long as they are captive bred, so knowing breeders would be great

Reed, if a gravid female lays eggs will I notice this immediately? My viv is not clear around the bottom, so there is about 10 inches of eco-earth surrounding a pool and plants in a 4' X 2' area. Normally the pool is very clean. Today all of the cover moss was disturbed and there was eco-earth thrown on the rocks that lead into the water and eco-earth had been tracked into the pool. My dragons (CWD) are not diggers. How would I know if one of the females laid eggs? Any idea? Thanks, Diane

If you still have baby CWD remaining would you ship one to W. VA. to a kid on one of my other forums? If so, I'll give him your link.

hello. sometimes she is alot skinnyer but some times you cant tell. my first female i had no clue she was gravid i thought she was a boy until she was digging i came back lator and youcouldent tell it was all put back so good and she dident look skinnyer. you could take her out maby give her a shoallow bath and go dig around in her cage most of teh time they lay in a corner or where they can dig under somthing but sometimes they will lay in the middle as for depth they normaly lay all the way at the bottom but 10 inches im not sure how far down they would go. aww babies i believe i have a male CWD and a female AWD, do you thing they would/could crossbreed.. i have noticed that my female AWD likes to dig under my watter bowls and gets stuck in places she shouldnt b.. but she is only 13-14 inches in size. and my substrate is only 2" deep at most. do you think i should make it deeper for her at all?

I have heard of them cross breeding before and even heard of eggs that came after the cross breeding. However the young lady who did this never confirmed if the eggs wer viable or not. My guess is they were not as CWD and EWD are some what dissimilar genetically. Personally I woudl recommend a dirt area at least 4 to 6 inches deep for anyone with a female dragon 16-18 months or older. This will provide a suitable egg laying site and discourage egg-binding.
