Hi all, I wanted to post a photo an description of Pooka's home. Well, it's home for a month or two anyhow. Right now I have her in a 24 inch long aquarium. It's 10 Gallon I think. As you can see in the Picture I have some articles in there for her. Some are fun and some are functional. She has a vertical tree branch with a fake plant growing up along it in the corner. She has a fake rock arch for basking and this is where she usually naps and takes her drinks from (strange Dragon likes to drink from the puddles misting leaves on the stone) she also has a real stone below the arch which is black (she likes to bask on it sometimes also). Finally to round it off she has a water dish in the corner made out od stone. Its big enough to swim in but heavy enough she can't tip it. Also, she has a tree branch ran diagnal across the tank. This is where she likes to hang out sometimes and get warm, other times she waits here for the screen to be lifted then rushes the cage top to get out ;D I plan on upgradeing to a 6 foot long 2 foot wide aquarium before too long, unless of course I cn be persuaded to go with a260 gallon reptarium or home made enclosure.

You better hurry because i heard that water dragons grow fast. Also you should check out glasscages.com because they have very low priced tanks!

I like the cage I am thinking of starting a little breeding colony of water dragons. I am thinking of starting a crested gecko, leopard gecko, frilled dragon and water dragon breeding colony. I have worked with bearded dragons for a long time and now I am thinking of adding a new species to my colection.

Yeah, I think sallybreeder is right because I got my water dragon a few weeks ago and she has already grown a few inches.

Yes I know they grow quickly. We got this cage just so we could bring her home that day. I am caught in the middle between going with a 6 foot x 2 foot aquarium and putting a screen top on it or getting an upright reptraium. The reptarium is cheaper but I have no idea how to keep the humidity up in it without raiseing the overall humidity in my room to the same amount, as reptraiums are that nylon mesh material. Reagrdless she will be in something else by the time she is half as long as the aquarium, then maybe I'll ad a friend or two with her.

Make sure if you get some friends that you have them quarantined for about 3 months. You wouldn't want your baby to get sick from one of the others. Also, if you get more than one wd you will have to make sure you have the room and expense to fund different vivs. Very seldom can you house more than one male together (only in rare cases and only when the enclosure is huge) and sometimes the females don't like to live together either. Since you can't tell their sex until they are about 18 months old you won't know what they are until they are bigger. By the time you know what your baby is now you would either have to get an adult or you would have to start over with another baby. You can't put the wds together until they are about the same size as one may get picked on or a baby may become a snack for a full grown wd. You would have to have about 2 females for the one male (or only put them together during mating season). Only having one female to one male may be too stressful for the female. Just food for thought.

Pooka, you should wipe off the cage when you spray it because it can leave marks on there if you leave it on too long.

i think you have a great set up, even for a cage that you are only keeping for a short period of time. I like how you have it, everything seems to go together well and it looks as tho it all fits perfectly. I seen that you were looking to get a 260 gallon aquarium, if you do, i can't wait to see what that will look like
