Alright, as many of you know we got a shiny new digi camera recently and so I'm still learning all the advanced bells and whistles but I'm getting d**n good if you ask me. I've been trying to play my hand at not using a flash for semi-lit shots. Of course, no post with a claim like that would be complete without proof. So I took some pictures of the kids tonight and they came out pretty d**n good:
Here's our favorite little cutie:
This one was taken without a flash after setting the white balance to use a shot of the napkins in her tank
Here's Jade our first herp
This time I had to use the flash. The white background that close to the lights was backlighting it WAY too much
Jade's new (hopeful) boyfriend:
Again, no flash and this time it REALLY brought out his color. I was very happy with this one as opposed to one with the flash.
Ah, Togetherness ;-)
I walked into the kid's room tonight to check on some changes I made to the dragon's plumbing and found them this way. It was so cute I had to shoot it. I do apologize for the quality but it was a rushed shot through the glass, I didn't want to disturb them.
And finally, everybody's favorite demon gecko:
Both of these were taken with a flash because the lights were out and there would never have been enough light to take them otherwise. The first one is taken through the glass (sorry for the waterspots). The faded color is due to the ultrasonic fogger I had on at the time. This thing fogs up the tank like crazy. The second is an overhead shot of him in the same spot (head facing differently). Both of these shots were taken with the CCD set to ISO100 and the shutter at 200. It kept being overexposed at these settings so I wound up changing the aperature setting to F32 (yes that is thirty-two) but I think they came out great myself.
As you can see, the kids seem to be doing fine and I am having lots of fun with the camera. Pics of Willow to come later. LMK what you think!!
