I wanted everyone to meet Thraxxis, the tiny male, Ambanja Panther chameleon that I got for my birthday. This is my first chameleon and I am trying very hard to keep this little one alive. He was MUCH smaller than I envisioned from his photo once I really received him. I have had him for 3 weeks. Dragos mom

Very cute I better not let Nikki see this picture or I'll have to endure the chameleon whine-fest again She wants one so badly but they are so hard to care for from what I have heard and don't have a largish life span. Keep us posted, I'm very keen to hear about Thraxxis.

very cool looking... I hope it turns out really colourful for you....I found with our chameleons, they almost double their size for the first few months, really amazing to see, hope you enjoy!

Thanks guys. I also heard they would grow quickly but right now I'm just trying to keep the little sucker ALIVE. I've never seen him eat or shoot his tongue, but his eyes are still buggy and his urates are white and he continues to defecate, so I must be missing the food consumption. He freezes if he knows I'm around and his cage is too far from the webcam for me to see anything of help. So far I just mist alot and keep the cage loaded with different foods. Wish me luck!

hey just so you know, we have had good luck with hand feeding our young chameleons, they dont like to be held when they get a little older, well the veilds anyways, they hiss quite aggressivley, but when they are really small we just have the chameleon in one hand and the food in the other and they seem to eat quite well that way.. we keep their food dishes just below thier favorite basking spots, (so they can reach with thier tongues) but until we establish where that is, we either hold the food infront of them in the cage or take them out... but like i said they dont like to be held like the water dragons so some might not respond good to hand feeding...at least that way we can monitor what they are eating....best of luck..

Thanks for that info. He must be eating because he manages to still poop and appears to be growing. Everyone on the other chameleon forum told me not to handle him-that it would be too stressful for him, so I got some maggots and some of them are gone so I have to assume he ate them.
