I read somewhere (and now I can't find it!) that BD's tend to show more colors and/or patterns on their chest and stomachs when the ambient temps are different in their enclosures. The author stated that when the temps were on the low side his dragons showed a dark background color with white or near white dots. Has anyone else noticed this with their dragons? I'm just curious if any of you have noticed this on your dragons or have read/seen anything about it. I have noticed that the underside of my little one tends to get darker and lighter at times...sometimes a solid color of almost pure white and other times very dark with the white spots. I haven't been able to decide if it's a temp thing yet, however. The temps in her enclosure don't change except for at night when the lights are out. Right now it just seems to change for no apparent reason. I haven't noticed any color change on my bigger dragon at all. But if it is a temperature thing, it would kind of make sense wouldn't it? Dark colors attract / absorb more heat than lighter colors. And in the wild, I could see where this would come in handy during basking. Anyways, any thoughts on this??

Maybe it is a mood thing?
I have noticed that if my lil Pooka (a water dragon) is well fed and watered and warm she will turn a bright green near her undersides and under her neck. This green will fade almost to white with brown edges if she is cold or threatened. Just a though. I know many chameleons species do this also.

I havent particulary noticed anything on thier stomach. I know that thier back changes colour a lot. At night when they seem peaceful and warm, they are a very light white-yellow-ish colour and other times the males whole body will be almost black

I know the feeling cyrene. Pooka has been rather cooperative about picture takeing but I cannot seem to capture the color difference with my camera. I am guessing its a light issue but thats about all I guess
