Over the last week there has been little activity on this forum, (bearded dragons) So just to get everyone back and posting again, i thought i'd start a thread on the effectiveness of different diets So post the diet you have for beardies, including how often, how much and what you feed them. Also to determine the effect of the diets, post how big and old your beardie/s are My Diet is: (once again changed ) Cucumber Bok Choy Carrots Broccoli Squash Pumpkin Crickets Mealworms I replace the veggies every second day with fresh ones or replace them if they have all gone before I feed them mealworms about every 2-3 months for about a week (every second day) and crickets every other day, when they arnt eating the mealworms They are about 2 years old and one is about 40cm and the other is about 37cm Hope everyone will take the time to get all thier info down

I'm sure it does not hurt them unless thats all you feed then they are getting full but not getting the nutrients. I love cucumbers I do not see why a dragon wouldn't love them as a treat

sounds like a good diet. Just, i know that all omnivorous/herbivorous reptiles would love banana.. or do love it, but it can stuck in thier gums and become all mouldy and may become a health hazard. I haven't actually seen this myself, but a herpetologist and experienced reptile keeper told me that. But i'm just telling you what i have heard Also Maybe some more greens such as bok choy, broccoli or kale wouldnt hurt, as beardies love variety p.s they also love bright coloured food such as pumkin, carrots and strawberries, but your beardie should be comfortable with what you have now

Before I start, I would just like to let you know Spike, that mealies arent very good for you dragon at all, they are high in chitin, which is where the shell is very hard for them to digest and over time will build up and cause impaction. I feed a VARIETY(key word), so almost everything that is green on this ( home.comcast.net/%7Eholachapulin/Nutrition.html) chart, and the other things occasionally. I will name some: ~Collards ~Mustards ~Endive ~Escarole ~ occassional kale ~Turnip ~Parsnip ~Cactus pad leaf ~Yellow squash Greens are given twice a day depending on how much has been eaten. And for the meat I feed (for adults) crickets every other day and (for babies-juvies) every day. I will occassionally feed silkies, supers, roaches, and hornworms(as treats!) I will tell you the weights of my dragons(do not have measurements at the moment): Rex(approx. 2yrs old)~ 461g Bindi(approx. 2 yrs old)~ 283g Sheila(approx. 1- 1.5 yrs old)~ 253g Pyro(4 months old)~ 60g ~Steven

Thanks for the heads up then steven. Right now, i have a box of mealworms between my 5 reptiles. This is only the 3rd time in 2 years i have given any of them mealworms. It is just usually to give them a change, but the ridge-tail and water dragons dont seem to be to keen on them But they all love thier crickets and woodies (roaches) P.S Nice diet by the way
