Since butterworms are so high in calcium, do I still need to dust them with calcium?

I personally don't dust either butter worms or silkworms and if I'm sure that my food has been properly gutloaded I don't bother either. I put calcium, vitamin supplement and dry, probionic gutload in the worm bowls that I leave in the viv and I change those out with fresh live food every other day. Hatchlings and juvies need quite a bit more calcium than older dragons to sustain their growth. Keep in mind that it is the combination of calcium, UVB light and heat that work together to keep the dragon healthy. All three need to be carefully balanced. A small amount of calcium properly absorbed is much better than a lot of calcium without the right environment to convert it to D3. Once your dragon gets to be an adult you may choose to use concentrated liquid calcium once per week to help your females with egg formation.

Ok, thanks. I was just making sure that it wouldnt harm my dragon by too much calcium. Do you know some good sites to order butterworms and silkworms from? Saki has completely stopped eating crickets and will only eat worms now. The only worms available in my area are mealworms and waxworms, and I don't want to feed either in large quantities.

I hear you on this issue, Pooka has done the same to me. I can get her to take a crikcet every once in a while but thats about it. She used to put 12-20 of them away each day untill she discovreed the joys of waxwomrs and mealworms, now she hardly ever touchs crix. I am glad she still puts away between 6 and 10 medium mealworms and the occasional waxworm or two away each day. If you like me an want to 'try' silkworms before buying a load then try this site: silkwormfarm.com/

www.midwestherpetoculture.com/id31.htmlDon't know where you are, but I found this site. I ordered from the silkworm farm also my first go round and was very satisified. The prices look better at the above site, which is why I bookmarked it. I get a lot of my other worms from: www.grubco.com and www.southerncricket.comMy CWD seem to prefer crickets and superworms (zophobas morios) over all other food sources. I can get them to munch on a butter worm or 2 or a silkworm or 2 but then they close their eyes. Then they'll eat 6-12 large superworms! Do our dragons have us trained or what? LOL

The test with Butterworms and Awol is a success... I should be living in the streets by next year. He likes Butterworms and silkies very much. Mind you he likes anything with a heartbeat including my thumb
