Hello all,
Basically, Graceful Dragons was created to be turned over to the member base eventually. I hold no illusion that this is MY site, this site was made for all of us as Water Dragon lovers and it is my intention to point it in that direction as soon as it can stand on its own feet.
With that thought in mind we will be needing a community of leaders eventually to manage the day to day affairs of ‘Graceful Dragons’. To facilitate that need we will be selecting moderators for the various forums. To keep the structure easy and the leadership base small and balanced a moderator will be chosen for each major forum category: Currently these are, ‘General’, ‘Water Dragons’, ‘Other Lizards’, ‘Turtles & Tortoises’, ‘Frogs, Toads & Other Amphibians’. So we will need a total 5 moderators but these categories (and the number of moderators) are subject to change at any time to keep the forum flexible and tidy.
Becoming a moderator is rather easy; here is how you do it:
1) Keep posting- to be a moderator you must prove that you are willing to be an active member in the Graceful Dragons community.
2) Mature demeanor- to be a moderator there is a certain level of maturity desired. This does not mean you cannot have fun though, this just means researching an answer before you share it, using common sense and following the forum rules/FAQ
3) Subject Matter Expert- to be a moderator there is a certain amount of knowledge we would like to see applicants have. A moderator will not be elected just because they have a 50+ post count if all of it is nonsense or off topic spam, likewise, someone who obviously lacks even basic research knowledge of the animals we discuss will also not be considered
4) Desire to get involved- to be a moderator we would like to see some want to be involved. No one is going to want to have a leader who does not want the job. So you’ll need to actively show that you know what’s being talked about, show that you want to help, and ask to get involved in things.
That’s about all of it. Not too hard is it? It boils down to just being an active friendly part of the community and knowing your stuff then showing a desire to know and do more. I would also like to point out that future admins of the site will be chosen from the mods and the current mods polled to ‘elect’ such admins. We will not get into that in this post though as I have covered that process elsewhere and it is something that will not be happening in the near future as both Elizabeth and I are active online often at this time and Graceful Dragons is small enough not to need more then 2 admins. I hope this post helps all those who are interested in becoming moderators for Graceful Dragons. I have left this thread unlocked so that inquirys can be posted within this thread also inquirys can be emailed to gracefuldragonsadmin@hotmail.com
