Hello, I have a water dragon, I think it's female because the femoral pores are fairly small and the neck crest isn't really big... We're not sure how old she is but my mom bought her as a xmas presant for me and I love her to death.. Unfortunatly, my mom didn'trealy read about them and we do't have the finaces to build her a cage yet.. I tried to get my grandpa to do it but he said he couldn't work with the tools we had so I have to return about 150 in wood to Home depot... anyways, She's very pretty and likes to sit on my shoulder... but that's not why I started this .... *sighs* i get off track. I need to know what the best material is to use and if anyone knows the best matieral's, how to water proof it.. etc... I'ver got her in a 2ftL ftw, 1 1/2 ft tall.... And I know it's not big enough because she digs at the carpet and bumps her nose though I've put up stuff around the edges to try and discourage that.... If anyone has any Advice, I'd be very grateful.

Plywood with a water based polyurathane coating is probably the cheapest way to go. I used melamine coated particle board for mine which is somewhat inexpensive ($26 a sheet and I used 3 sheets for a 6ft by 4ft by 2 ft cage) but its very heavy. A solid cage of wood is a good bet to stop nose rubbing as well.

Ah, Thanks. I think we acctually have water based poly so that works. Unfortunatly She's goingto have to wait another month before I can get the money to build her a cage. I just spent about 80 on her at the vet and I have to go back next week (another 30). But, I think she should be fine, I've been checking her daily for any signs of bruising on her face... She seems fine so... I hope she'll be ok for another few weeks.

That's how it goes with these guys in general. Once you get one expense taken care of 2 more appear. I just dropped near $300 for new UVB lights for the year for my crew and still need to build at least 3 more cages for my collection of herps since my old cages are getting to small. I'm glad the banging has stopped for now, bets of luck with the vet and the new cage designs. You should be able to see how I did mine in the enclosures section of the forum, feel free to hit me up if you have questions.
