Hello Everyone!
I'm still new to WD. Draco is doing great, looking prettier and prettier all the time. I just got a smaller, I quess its almost hatchling size, baby WD. Her name is Puffy, even though I don't know for sure if its a male or female. Can she be housed with Draco, or will he go after her? Puffy seems to be bobbing her head too while Draco never did this.
I look forward to hearing from yous!

Congrats on your new WD? How old is Draco? or...how big is he? Depending on the dragon, usually it is alright as long as they both arent mature males. Have you taken Puffy to the vet to make sure she doesnt have any parasites? You wouldnt want him/her to transfer anything to Draco. When you put them together just watch them to make sure one doesnt attack the other. Good luck!

Hi, If Draco is already "established" meaning you have had him for some time and he is healthy and used to his sorroundings it is best to quarentine puffy for at least 30 days preferably longer. During this time take puffy to the vet and make sure she has a clean bill of health, you do not want something coming into your viv on her like a parasite invasion or mites or any other kind of illness. After you are confident puffy is "clean" start introduceing the 2 of them for short periods every day working your way up to 24 hours. After 24 hours you can house them togther and just obsevre both of them for signs of aggression or obvious decline. Failure to eat or bask are usually the 2 most obvious as water dragons usually do not have violent outbursts. Hope everything turns out alright for you please feel free to ask questions as we have some collective experience and even more links to other info sites

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone! My Puffy is finally eating 1/2in crickets! I put her in her own smaller cage. I beleive the other one was too big and the crickets ran away and hid before she could get them. I put a branch in there and she sits on it most of the day. It seems like the tiny ones like to get up high.

Glad to hear all is well. How long is Puffy snout to tail now? Do you have plans to post pictures any time soon? Thanks for the update.

I discovered yesterday when I went to turn out her light that Puffy doesn't seem to close her mouth all the way. Is this mouth rot even though I don't see any crustiness? I'm making an appointment to take her to the vet today. I'll try to get pictures today sometime, I'm shipping skinks today.

The open mouth thing can indicate too low humidity or a respiratory infection that requires antibiotics. Bumpo up your moisture levels and if it doesn't help within 24-48 hrs. better see the vet about it. Keeping her mouth open for extended periods of time is not a normal behavior. Mouthrot is brownish stain around the teeth or cottage cheese like substances on teeth anfd gums!

Hi Dragosmom,
Puffy don't have any brown staining or cottage cheese stuff on her gums. It just looks like the lip is curled up inward half way along the side of her mouth. I wasn't able to get an appointment until Wednesday. I have a large water bowl in her cage for humidity but I'll spray her too a couple times a day. I don't want my baby to be sick!

The spraying is a good idea. I have particular trouble with humidity this time of year. It won't hurt to spray everything in the viv, including your dragon(s). I use water at about 77-80F so I don't lower the temp too much in the viv.

I am in Ohio and this time of year my furnace is on constantly, so my house is very dry so I have to mist my drags about every 2 hours to keep my humidity levels up. Puff actually likes being misted. Do you have a humidity guage in there to monitor your levels? If so I would make sure to get one. I am dealing with a sick lil one that has a resp infection right now, I found that if I let the shower run with hot and get the bathroom nice and steamy and then put my baby in the sink for a nice warm soak (NOT HOT) he seems to feel so much better. Might want to try that. Resp infections are horrible. I would definitly take him into a vet if he is holding his/her mouth open. Good luck and keep us updated! ~Abbey, Puff & Baloo~

Hello MomMyo, I don't have any gauges, I can't get them to work right and I don't trust them. I'm misting Puffy often but I'm afraid to at night. I wish I could get a sooner appointment as it seems like she's not eating Lizardlady

77-81 is a bit cold for during the day. Or is that your night time temps?
