How much do the small juveniles and hatchlings eat on average? I hear they eat great amounts. Like 20 or so small crix a day plus greens each. Is this exaggeration?

when mine were young i fed them about 10-15 crix max a day, 5-7 each serving. they ended up pretty small for their age but at least they are still shedding

All dragons have different appetites. I would say that the average amount for a juvie would be 15-20 small crix and about 10 medium Crix

I have a about 3 yr old beardie named Diablo who i rescued. Diablo is a pig! Pooka know cuz i've told him before what she eats. She loves her salads and her beardie pellets and she can and will if i allow it, she will eat 5 doz large crix, a plate of salad, 12 nightcrawlers and15- 20some feeder fish. She doesnt get fed like this all the time. But last night, her dinner was 27 feeders. then she went to sleep. lol. It really depends on the dragon and what there choice of food is. You just have to experiment in what they like. And if you try buying beardie pellets, even if its an adult beardie, ALWAYS buy the juvie pellets. The adult pellets a beardie will try to pick a certain color and with the juvie ones he/she cant pick. I also buy beardie yummies and cut them up n put them in Diablos salads.

I have never heard of someone feeding their bearded dragon fish before. Are you sure that is healthy for them. You were right about the pellets the dragons will pick one color.

yup, fish is fine, there is nothing wrong with feeder gold fish as long as you trust where you are getting them and inspect for illness. My petstore has NEVER done me wrong and i trust my animals life with them. I feed my WD and my Beardie them. They love them !!

Don't see why not. Fish are an excellent source of protein. Now that Derek mentions it I have not seen anything that indicates its good for them nor bad... I for one would be insterested in anything you find on this subject Derek. Diablo is a feeding beast so maybe she'll eat fish where other beardies may not? I dunno, just a wild guess.

I have chatted with others that have fed feeder fish to their beardie's and/or WD's, and they have never had probs. I personally have never tried this with either Zeke or Minnie, but I might try 1 or 2.
Do you just put the fish in the water bowl & let it swim around until the critter "fishes" it out?
Very Interesting!!

how you present the fish to your dragon(s) is up to you and your dragon(s). With my CWD Petri, i tried putting them in her water dish, she had a hard time trying to catch them and banged up her face a lil then i just started using a small shallow dish and putting a fish or 2 at a time and letting her get them.

Maybe try hand feeding it to her or the shallow dish should work.

Hi, in my opinion fish would be to much protein, most of what I read and researched on BD tell you do not feed meat or chicken because that amount of protein can cause kidney damage. I know that fish is not consider as either but can be as high in protein as them. I would stick with the worms, crickets and greens and vegs with a cal. supplement. Stay away from lettuce and romaine because of low nutrient value.
